Qualified Nurse - Nights

  • Location: Halifax
  • Salary: £17 to £17
  • Type: Permanent
  • Posted: 36 days ago
  • Company: Dutton Recruitment

Dutton Social Care & Nursing are currently working in partnership with an amazing nursing home in Halifax to recruit for a permanent night nurse to work 24/36 or 48hrs per week (12 hr shifts 7.45pm - 8am).

home has been rated GOOD across the board with CQC and OUTSTANDING with local authority.

As a night nurse you will be the sole nurse in charge of the small 35 bedded nursing unit which makes up part of the larger home. You will conduct all clinical and nursing duties on the unit and you will be supported by the night care assistants, usually 3-4 on your unit. The nursing unit supports client with nursing needs, palliative care and end of life so you will need to have strong clinical skill and be experienced in working with clients with PEGs, syringe drivers, catheters and wound care needs. You will be responsible for overseeing the team on your unit, doing the medication round and ensuring checks are done throughout the night and that everyone is safe and well. The rota is done on a rolling rota basis so weekends are shared out between the nurses however where ever possible the manager tries to accomodate staff requests and enables self rostering where possible and as long as it is done fairly and that all shifts are covered. The home has an excellent reputation and is full with a waiting list of over 40 people.

My client will consider newly qualified nurses and this service is a very good place to start you career as a nurse. The clinical lead nurse is very strong and you would work with her for 2-3 weeks when you first start as part of your induction. The home has excellent staff retention, only uses agencies as an emergency, is a great place to develop strong clinical skills and really could be someone's dream job. The role would suit someone who is passionate and wants to make a difference, someone who wants to get their hands dirty and lead from the front. This role wouldnt suit someone who wants to sit back and conduct paperwork in the nursing station as they are looking for proactive and passionate people to lead by example and continue their excellent reputation.
